The one with the education on moose

After the most perfect waffle of my life/in the world/in existence we went to Cabalo’s, a Canadian ourdoor store. It was so.much.fun. I got to see a moose up close which was pretty much the highlight of my life (we won’t talk about the fact that it was stuffed). Before I went to Canada the first time my friend and I actually spent a lot of time googling moose cos we had no idea what the difference was between a moose and a reindeer. Now I know that basically a moose has a giant nose and is even cuter and beastier than a reindeer, I am a super educated person now.
One photo of us looking normal and then two of me looking less than normal 🙂

I am trying to look like a reindeer deep in thought here. I think I nail it. (The above photo is self-explanatory that I look like a beaver).

I love that Cabelo’s has a random fudge shop. Every store should have that.

Not to mention the lollies!! (What nzers call candy). My brain almost exploded trying to choose but I managed it, it was a big challenge but gummy bears are the shizzle.

When my eyes were met with the below gloriousness I knew we had chosen the right place to stay. I was also super happy that my laziness in the morning meant that I hadn’t worked out yet and so could pay homage to the gym by sweating like a beast in it.

Apparently the door at the pool wasn’t built for minus thirty temperatures 😉
I love the blue theme of the room! It made me feel fancy even though ten minutes in we had our crap flung all over it. We are classy.
It was scary how happy the beautiful little shampoos and soaps made me. They were the cutest things ever and I loved the pretty quotes on them.
I am a crazy stalker apparently and I used my stalker skills to take a photo of these boots that EVERY Canadian girl has with the awesomest pom-poms. They are way too cute.

I had to get this burger for dinner, my parents call me Jessie Bessie and Jess Bess and so the Bess burger was pretty much made for me. It was sooooo gooooood. I should have taken a photo but I was way too hungry and I’m sure you can visualise the epicness.

Not gonna lie, the hamburger I ate during dinner did try to come back up when I went for my run in the beautiful gym not long afterwards, but I gave it a piece of my mind and won that battle. I am quite proud of myself.

It made me think about what is it that we all say to ourselves to help push through when a workout is hard or not ideal. For me there are a few things that I always think about that help me finish when I’m not feeling like I can. If I’m really in pain/exhausted I will definitely stop though; I really feel like sometimes your body knows best and listening to it will help you come back next time and crush that workout.

The main thing that works for me is thinking about how great I am going to feel once I finally finish the workout. No matter what, I always feel super proud of myself after I finish and that feeling combined with the post workout high is the number one reason I power through.

I also like thinking about my goals and how that workout is going to help me get there. I know that every hard workout is gonna make my next run or race feel sooo much better and that’s a pretty great incentive to me.

I definitely also think that there is A LOT to be said for distractions. Often a new song will make a big difference and motivate me to just stay in the moment and work bitch as my girl Britney says 😉 Thinking about my entire life and my favourite stuff that is going on helps too, as does planning out my to do list and week. Multitasking is the way to go.

4.7 miles feeling like I was about to throw up, 3.3 miles with the hugest cramp in my side. Done.

BOOM.

What do you say to yourself to push through? (ps. not through injury just through the less than ideal workouts 🙂 )
