My body felt like yoga was the way to go cos I slept funny on the plane and my back is all bunched up. I often get a sore back or neck (I like to tell myself it’s cos my muscles are so strong that they are working super hard all the time, don’t think too much about the logic behind that cos it doesn’t really make sense) but some sweet yoga always feels beautiful on it. Running often bunches up my back a lot too so this kind of yoga is gonna be a very regular thing now that I’m starting my exciting half marathon training.
Some of my personal favourite yoga poses for a sore back or neck (please remember I am the least flexible person ever but I think that yoga is for everyone and maybe in particular for people like me who look ridiculous doing it π )
Also please ignore the less than perfect floor, basement yoga is classy fo’ shizzle.
Standing forward fold: uttanasana-
Extended triangle pose/utthita-trikonasana:

Downward dog/urdhva mukha svanasana-
Upward facing dog/urdhva mukha svanasana
Child’s pose/balasana-
Cat/cow pose/marjarasana/bitilasana-

Bow pose/dhanurasana-
Plow pose/halasana-
Spinal twist/natrajasana-

Sometimes I just whip out one or two of these poses during the day if my back is sore, but if I have time I love to do a few sequences of them all to really loosen up my back.
After my yoga extravaganza we went to the Superstore for some much needed groceries now that we are staying in Vancouver. I found the perfect size coffee cup that I really need in my life:

And a very appropriate size box of mini wheats:
And the sky in the car park wasn’t too bad either π

As soon as we got home we fired up the new slow cooker we bought with some tofu carrot soup of our own invention (empty two cans of random soup into the slow cooker with chopped up carrots and tofu and beans- wish us luck π ). We are pretty much ready to go on master chef at this point, I will fill out an application as soon as I get time in my busy schedule.
And then because the soup won’t be done for a few hours and because this is always a good thing to do we had a random ice cream snack. Again, cookie dough is the best way to go, every other flavour pales in comparison for me. There is also a random bit of muffin in there cos that’s how I roll.
Ending the day with hot vegetarian soup and a sweet movie is the way to go. You need to see The Next Three Days right now ok? I have watched it at least twelve times cos it is awesome and I make all my friends watch it with me and we are besties so you need to watch it too π plus Russell Crow is the man and he is a kiwi like me π
Anyone seen The Next Three days? – if not, please go do so now.
You had me on the yoga thing until you showed that plow pose! I’m not sure my body bends that way π I will have to give that a try tonight. Warning, I might secretly blame you if I get hurt. haha
I have never heard of that movie. Maybe a good treadmill flick for me! Also, I am all about that mini wheat box! That was pretty much the only cereal I would eat because I loved it so much. Brown sugar flavor is pretty delish.

I go into plow from shoulder stand but I’m not a yoga teacher so I’d recommend asking a professional next time you’re in a class or something π it is a great movie, please do it! Perfect for on the treadmill, high adrenaline π mini wheats all the way!!!

I tried that plow pose. Didn’t quite look like that – my toes didn’t touch the ground completely, but at least I tried! btw, my husband thinks I’m crazy for eating Frosted Mini Wheats before my long runs & races, but it just works for me. All of that fiber keeps me full! And congrats on that plane ticket score! Very exciting for you two!!

Aw thanks so much! That’s awesome that you tried it! How did you find it? I often feel a lot better in it when I close my eyes. I think I could eat mini wheats at any time any place and be fine, they are the best!!! π

There is absolutely no way I could do yoga on that hard concrete floor. You are a rockstar. My back hurts just looking at that. And I think you lost me at Plow pose. LOL
We just watched The Next Three Days recently, though we’ve seen it before. Russell Crowe, surprisingly I don’t mind in this movie even though…he’s not my favorite. ::ducking::
But man, the chick. She irritated me a tad bit there. Like…a lot. My poor husband. I virtually never comment on movies and I could not be silent. She drove me nuts.
Otherwise, very entertaining. LOL

Aww thank you! Haha yeah the floor is not ideal so I definitely don’t do certain poses on it! Ouch :s omg that is soo true, like when she opens the car door? I pretty much had heart palpitations at that point lol

Right? When she opened the car door I wanted to slap her. And I am not that person. But I was so over her. LOL. All I could think was this poor guy was working SO hard for her!
