The one with the misty mountain hike

Ok so they weren’t really misty mountains, those only exist in Middle Earth sillies πŸ™‚

They were northern Vancouver beautiful mountains though, nestled in a beautiful little harbour side town about 40 mins drive from the city.

Last week Curtis and I spur of the moment decided a hike would be a good plan for the day, threw a picnic together, and drove straight out.

I LOVED the hike. There were more uphills than I had imagined, but it was only an hour there and an hour back so it was actually perfect. It felt really good as a change from running too, my legs were like what is this all about? We’re not running? πŸ™‚ plus what could be better than gorgeous nature + my man + a picnic at the top with THIS VIEW:

It was a lovely reward after getting out heart rates right up to see the ocean before us. We had no idea what to expect with this hike because we basically knew nothing about it so it definitely exceeded our expectations.

After our picnic I got a little chilled (read: freezing), so I had to wear Curtis’ snowcoat (designed for the Saskatchewan winter!!) over the top of my snowcoat, a sweater, and a long sleeved shirt. I looked really good and really slim πŸ˜‰ Luckily with all of that this little kiwi bird survived the extreme temperature (5 degrees lol) and made it back to the car. I actually was just warm enough and wore it the entire time despite the intense exercise, I am pretty delicate apparently πŸ˜‰

The sun had just set when we got back so after a post-hike half moon pose it was dinner time! Apparently hiking and fresh air makes me just a little hungry so I was pretty excited by the pizza.

Finishing the day with the most adorable chocolate bear and this inspirational quote on the wine was perfect.

Yay for switching up my usual workout, we can just call me kiwiyogirunner hiker now πŸ˜‰

How do you switch up your workouts?

Nicest hike you’ve done? There are lots of beautiful hikes in New Zealand but my person faveourite is up Mt Poringia in Hamilton, it is a ten hour hike with a great view but my favourite part is that I always do it with my sister and we always talk for the entire ten hours πŸ™‚
