I knew in my bones tonight that I needed a walk. It is not often I go for a walk (by myself that is, I love them with people) because the Type A side of me likes to run/do yoga, but tonight I knew a walk was in order. I was feeling floopy, as Phoebe from Friends would say, and with a sprained ankle and having already done a fair amount of yoga today, it was walking time.
The universe decided to reward me by opening completely with the most spectacular lightening and thunder storm. I love storms like this but we don’t get them quite as often in NZ (I only realised recently some people don’t like storms? Dangerous ones I can understand but theΒ run of the mill type seem beautiful to me..) Luckily there was no rain, just gorgeous fork lightening and thunder. I actually considered doing some yoga sun (lightening?) salutations and a few poses because I am crazy but luckily my sanity kicked in (along with my parents reprimands if I did yoga in a storm) and I had a vision of me being struck down by a lightening bolt mid tree-pose.
I satisfied myself with taking this video but if you are not quite as enthralled with the beauty of this as I am, and don’t want to watch an entire minute and a half of lightening in Sydney/have more of a life than me ( π ) Β I would reccomend skipping to the end because there is some great fork lightening there.
I keep trying to turn away from it and then it keeps being beautiful and sucking me back in haha.
If I hadn’t gone for a walk tonight I wouldn’t have seen this glorious display of nature’s power and been reminded of the beauty all around us.
What is something beautiful you saw today?Β
Do you like storms?
GORGEOUS! I LOVE lightning storms. They are one of my favorite things about summertime. So cool that you took a video. I think it’s beautiful!

I like lightening storms.. but in the safety of my home. That’s the only time I wont go for a run.. I just have this fear I’ll get struck.!!! but I do agree, very beautiful and powerful.

I totally get that! Sydney is quite tropical though so there is often thunder and lightening when I am out for a run and I am quite used to it! Doing yoga in it would be pushing it though, I feel safer running because in my mind the lightening won’t strike something that is moving haha π

So pretty! I love lightening from afar π When it was stormy in Leipzig, I would get little lightening flashes in my living room…didn’t love that as much.

Hahaha noooo inside the house is always more scary! My parents house actually got struck by lightening last year and luckily they were fine and it didn’t catch fire but all their electronic stuff was fried! And all the pots in the kitchen were charred! Soo scary π¦

I don’t mind the rain when I’m inside, but I’m not a huge fan of storms. Especially with being in college & not having a car, storms are a bummer when you have to still walk to class!
