Our airport reunion is going to be pretty full on in a few weeks. There will be running and screaming and crying and people will think we have been separated for years when really it is only a month (a month is a long time to be away from your favourite people though).
And then the following awesomeness finally happened:
I submitted two essays that were due today! The above one was definitely not my favourite thing to write (okay, I was pretty much tearing at my hair in confusion-driven-angst the whole time). It felt so good to get them off my chest. They were actually due at midnight but because I thought I would be working a double shift today I handed them in early. When my lunchtime shift ended up getting cancelled it was actually the best thing ever- I knew I was in need of a me-date.
Back in NZ I would take myself for a me-date every Sunday. Nothing spectacular, but just time to do exactly what tickled my fancy that particular day (bear in mind that a student budget is somewhat limiting too 😉 ). Regular happenings were going for coffee at my fave cafe, driving somewhere new to run (like the Auckland harbourfront, gorgeous), eating delicious sushi, going to the library, browsing Kmart, or other cool things like that 😉 I am wild, I know. But I really love having that time do little things that make me happy, and after handing in those two beastie essays today, I knew it was time to resurrect the me-date.
I started off with some yoga. I was going to do Ashtanga but had been feeling pretty stressed about my essay and I really needed to decompress from that a little. This one did the trick.
Next stop was a swim at the apartment pool. By swim, I mean convalesce in the spa. I am not a great swimmer, I can swim to avoid drowning, but it is never something I love doing as a physical activity. I am pretty sure this is 98% because of what swimming does to my hair- like the purple minion, but not purple:
(I am obsessed with this Minion pinterest board by the way, please enrich your life and check it out. My current goal in life is to learn their language).
I was the only one at the pool and so I put on some peaceful music and continued reading the Dream Yoga book I am loving right now.
Lunch was a picnic at the waterfront. I really wanted to go out for lunch but my student budget was telling me that wasn’t an awesome idea, and so I had the best brainwave ever and just took what I would have eaten at home to a beautiful area right next to the water. Lunch was not the most appetizing thing ever maybe but shizzle really hit the spot.
Cloud watching was achieved.
I finished my date with cleaning my room (yes that made me really happy, and I am okay with that), some Friends watching, and a little nap before work. It was perfect.
Do you ever go on dates with yourself? What would you do on a date with yourself?
What did you have for lunch today?
Did you run today?– I decided to save my legs for my long run tomorrow, I am super excited for it 🙂
