The one with a linty jumper and other exciting news

My day started with a multitasking run. This is what a girl on a mission looks like.

I always know I am getting to the busy part of the semester when I start running all my errands via… running. In Sydney this works because I am pretty much equally sweaty whether I walk somewhere or run somewhere. It was a productive run but my legs felt a little tired for most of it, I knew it would give me a burst of energy for the rest of the day though so I pushed through. Plus I saw the most adorable couple running with their adorable sausage dogs towards the end and it (although I did wonder if they ran too fast on their tiny legs if they would simply explode).

The rest of my day involved a whole lot of this. It was exciting.

I even read three articles in pigeon pose which felt incredible after my run.

In other groundbreaking news, I have started the lint war of 2015 on my favourite jumper, and it it not looking good for team Jessie, there is just too much lint to conquer. This jumper (sweater to anyone not from down under) is my favourite at-home jumper EVER, it is so comfy and it covers my neck perfectly which is important to me as far as jumper necessities go.

I got it for $1 when I first went to Canada and had expected a NZ-esque summer when in reality most evenings were colder than a NZ winter. Not great when you are sleeping in a tent in the woods. I stocked up on thrift store finds and slept in a full set of clothes every night underneath three sleeping bags. Yeah, I am a little bit delicate πŸ˜‰Β  Do you love how you think you are reading a running/yoga blog and instead I write you an entire novel about a linty jumper? πŸ™‚

So back to yoga…

Later in the afternoon I started doing a proper yoga practice in my room beforeΒ realising that the sun was just setting (we just had daylight savings start yesterday) and so I cranked out this yoga sesh on the balcony instead.

The sun going down made the city look so golden and beautiful. Yoga outside always wins.

Dinner was this culinary masterpiece:

And now for the really truly exciting news (that lint story sure did set the bar high though πŸ˜‰ ), BESTIE is coming home tomorrow! I am super excited to have my twinnie/flatmate/dede ku back. Have a safe flight my darling!!

Do you do daylight savings where you live? -We just had it yesterday and it has been nice to get a little extra sleep πŸ™‚

Do you ever do errands on your run or is this just me?Β

Are you a thrift store shopper or a real store shopper? – I am a huge thrift store shopper aside from my Kmart obsession.

Have you tried something like this for lint?

I’m sure it’s available in Australia, and it would save you a lot of time! I used to have a similar lint remover — it really works!

  2. Jumper… yep, I see the communication issue! I think I might be quite confused if I ever travel to Australia with the little differences in what we call things! I love bargain shopping – especially hitting garage sales in the summer. Do you have garage sales (yard sales) there? I pride myself in scoring some great deals for cheap.
Our daylight savings was last month and it’s odd with it being bright so long. Makes it hard to convince the kids that they need to get ready for bed on a school day!!
Since I live in the suburbs, I would have to run 10 miles before I even got to a store, so nope, running doing errands would not work. But I wouldn’t hesitate to jump in the car all sweaty from running and go to the store. A hat solves most hair problems πŸ™‚

Oh yeah….the suburbs. One great reason to live in the city. I want the best of both worlds please.

    • Yeah it’s amazing how many little differences there are in basic words! Yeah I am a big fan of garage sales too! One time I got like 4 bikinis for $2 haha. Is it weird to get a bikini from a garage sale? Anyway I still wear them now a few years later so it worked for me haha. So true! Slap on a hat or a headband and you can get away with a lot! You can always tell when it’s a day I haven’t washed my hair cos it is definitely covered up by a headband πŸ™‚

  3. Wow, $1 is a great deal! We do daylight savings so now it gets dark later which is so nice. I definitely do quick errands on my runs!

I totally thought you meant a “jumper”, you know, one piece outfit that is from top to bottom. And as I look at it, I THINK you are talking about a fleece. I’m guessing that because of the horrible lint problem. My son has a million of them and he is so OCD that fleece and lint are his nemesis. I’m sorry for your lint issues. Hope you figure that little glitch out.

I do not run errands while I run. Running is running, errands are in the car. Suburban problems, yes. But also, I’m usually doing groceries or paint or whatever. But people that can do that, good on you. That’s awesome!

    • Haha like a jumpsuit? Cute but no! Yeah it’s basically just a fleece I guess! It sure is a battle haha. That makes sense, and it is like that 90% of the time for me… No car while I’m living in central sydney though!

  5. Jessica @ VEGGIE RUNNING MOMMA says:

I love that you say jumper for sweater. haha. I’d never heard that before. usually I just embrace the lint, or buy non linty material. Because I never have those lint rollers or I just lose them.! the struggle is real. lol

yay for your bestie coming back.! πŸ™‚

    • I was totally all about embracing the lint until Curtis pointed it out to me and threatened to burn the jumper! Which is a totally normal word in nz okay πŸ˜‰ it is a real struggle, there is just too much of it! So overwhelming!

Love those ozziedoggiejoggers – so sporty!!

  7. I am so happy that the clocks have changed. The lighter evenings are great for evening runs and being able to take food photos.

  8. Curtwood says:

In Saskatchewan we call hoodies or jumpers ‘bunnyhugs’ gotta love the different cultural phrasing πŸ˜‰
