The one with my current running playlist

Today I am excited for a little run later on in between my double waitressing shift. It has been two days already that I didn’t run and that is two days too long in Jessie-world. Lately I have been loving running to my current playlist and it is definitely taking my run to the next level. I can always tell when I have been listening to the same songs for too long because I press skip on 90% of the ones coming up on my shuffle, but when I am loving the playlist, I tend to repeat one song about five times before I move on to the next. This is a snapshot of one of these playlists for me (get prepared for some randomness, my music taste is a little all over the place πŸ˜‰ ):

Warm up song (yes it is from the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack, and I am okay with that πŸ™‚ ):

This song has been a fave of mine for years. Ellie Goulding is a runner too FYI πŸ™‚

Nelly Furtado (I am the biggest Nelly Furtado fan and have been since I was ten years old and don’t intend to change that anytime soon), The Grass is Green:

and Big Hoops (Bigger the Better), Demolition Remix- I am OBSESSED with this song for running right now. I actually don’t like the beginning of it that much, but once you get past that, the song is super fun to run to πŸ™‚

Get low πŸ™‚

I cannot do a run without a little Eminem. I actually went to his concert in 2014 (with my Russian friend who flew all the way from Russia to NZ just for the concert) and it was AMAZING. I love a whole lot of his new stuff but I am a big fan of the old-school stuff too:

Love this song, it always puts a little pep in my step:

If ending your run with this song doesn’t make you smile, then in my personal professional opinion you need a little bit of therapy (I am willing to step up to the plate cos I am a good friend like that so don’t worry πŸ™‚ ):

And a song I love to do some post run yoga to: You can never go wrong with Paul Simon. He is one of my fave artists ever and this song is so beautiful.

Those are just a few songs from my current playlist and they make me happy every time I hear them πŸ™‚Β For some reason I find sharing what music I listen to super intimate? Don’t worry though guys, I think we are totally at that place in the relationship. When Curtis and I first started dating I lent him my iPod randomly because his wasn’t working, and I remember giving him a ten minute spiel explaining the random mix of Eminem and Britney Spears and Paul Simon and trying to convince him not to judge me on my music choices. I am pretty sure he judged me anyway Β πŸ™‚Β Β I always find it super interesting what other people listen to on their runs though, even if it is quite different from the type of music I like to run to.

And finally, for my ULTIMATE favourite artist: Listen to this song and vote for Curtwood Bearsman (aka my boyfriend πŸ˜‰ ) to be Canada’s Best New Artist! Trust me he is amazing, and every vote is much appreciated by him and by me! πŸ™‚

What is your fave running song right now?Β

Do you listen to different songs for your warm-up/cool down?Β

  2. “Low” is on my fav playlist. The thing I love about music is the memories that go along with a song. With “Low” I heard it when I was waiting for my husband to finish the 50 miler race he had a few summers ago. I can clearly remember the day, the atmosphere and everything about it. All of my songs are like that. The training runs I had, the races I was listening to them, etc.
My playlist is fast, and faster! One is a huge playlist for “marathon” and another is “running fast”, for blasting during a 5K race. You are supposed to warm up and cool down? My bad, I never do that!

    • That is so true!! I love some quite random songs because of the awesome memories I have associated with them! That’s awesome, do you use the same playlist for every marathon or change it around? And ps WOW 50 miles!! I can’t imagine!!
