I finally went to the doctor. Mum, I know you are going to be very proud after asking me to do this for about three months since my last horrible flu. I know I look like I want to kill someone in this photo, and I’m sorry for that. It’s not aimed at anyone in particular but more the fact that I was forced to leave my bed and make an appearance in the generally non-flu-infected world. One awesome thing about this photo though: you would never know that underneath my jacket and pants I am wearing full on pyjamas, right? (For some reason my spellcheck is telling me that pyjamas is not spelt like that but I know in my heart that it is).
I am proud of my pyjama disguise achievement.
My doctor-reccomended flu-survival kit:
Okay, to be honest the only thing she reccomended was the Panadol and the Strepsils. The rest can only be accounted for by my own personal genius.
Lemon for in hot water ten million times a day.
Vitamin B6 because that shizzle is what keeps the scary beast otherwise known as female hormones under control.
Peanut butter and lollies because not many things sound good when you feel sick and so you gotta roll with what appeals (I didn’t eat them together though FYI).
And razors because if I do not shave my legs soon I am going to go crazy. Don’t you love how we can share these things? It’s so enriching 🙂
I am now about to impart to you some real-life doctor certified knowledge. When I told her that I have been coughing ALL NIGHT LONG and can’t stop she said “Don’t take cough medicine. Take Panadol (paracetamol) before sleeping and it will loosen you up and heat you up and you will have an amazing sleep”.
I had the most BEAUTIFUL PEACEFUL sleep of my life. Just sayin’, I was skeptical before, but it was was realsies (remember this was just for me so always talk to your doctor before taking any medication 🙂 ). Ha, now it sounds like I am promoting Panadol or something. I am really not, I was just super relieved to have a good sleep again.
The gummy bears were also very soothing while I had a Skype movie date with my man:
A few other things I have been doing to feel better:
Wearing a scarf at all times
Slathering Vicks Vaporub on myself at all times
Lots of chapstick
Lots of vaseline for my nose
Lots of hot tea
Lots of naps
LOTS of TV
A little bit of gentle yoga
What is something that directly increases your feeling of wellbeing when you are sick? – All the above things, and painting my nails, talking to my fam or Curtis or bestie, relaxing music, hot soup, propping myself up on a thousand cushions, a back rub, a hot bath, cuddly socks, spooning my pillow…okay it is getting weird I will stop.
