The one with Friday Favourites

So many favourites from this week! Here we gooooooo:

– My new place. Having keys again is a pretty awesome feeling, it’s only been around a year since I had any πŸ˜‰ Let the nesting begin!

– My studies. Week two of the trimester is over and I am LOVING all my subjects so far. Last trimester was a bit of a challenge in some ways- I had just transitioned from Canada to NZ to Australia so I was missing Curtis and my family and on top of that I didn’t love my subjects (ethics is just not super exciting to me unfortunately) but this time things are getting a whole lot more interesting. At the end of this trimester I’ll have finished the first year of my MA and so specialising more = exciting times for Jessie.

– My new grandma coat. I got this from the op shop (what kiwis call the thrift store) for crazy cheap and while it is possibly not the most stylish thing I have ever worn it is super warm and soft and exactly what I need for winter. I took this selfie in Kmart, I officially have no more shame about anything.

– Running my errands. Literally. I feel like this week I had a bunch of random errands to do and I did them all via running. Who needs public transport? By the time I wait for the bus, catch the bus, sit in it, and then walk to my destination, I could have run there in less time and got my workout in. Good thing I have lost all my shame about being bright red and sweaty at the bank πŸ™‚

– My sweatilicious HIIT workouts. I am loving the burn and the feeling of pushing myself but most of all the feeling of my runs being easier as a result of my cardio fitness improving. I whipped out the last sesh in the gym as a way of saying goodbye to it by sweating profusely in it, yummy.

– Doing yoga every day again. It feels great to be practicing regularly and I really feel like it helped me cope during a bit of a stressful week.
– Stealing bestie’s clothes. Obviously she is the size of a pixie so there are only certain things I can steal but you better believe I am making the most of it. The scarf and hat I am wearing in this post are both hers… She loves it πŸ˜‰

-Kmart. We all know I love Kmart probably a little too much, and I now feel like I am ready to work there after having memorised their entire store trawling the hours for two hours finding stuff to pimp my new place. Seriously, nesting is the best.

Tell me some of your Friday Favouries!

Do you have siblings? – I have one older sis who is THE BEST and hopefully she will visit me here soon! Bestie is my sister from another mister πŸ™‚

What are your weekend plans? – I always work heaps on the weekends so that will pretty much be it, and any spare time will be spent nesting in my new home that I am a little bit obsessed with.

  1. Congrats on your new place!! How exciting. I love the coat, too – so cute! I have one brother, but my husband is one of 10 brothers and sisters so it’s kind of like I have a massive amount of siblings! It’s pretty fun πŸ™‚

  2. I feel like we’d get along so well in real life πŸ™‚ I literally run my errands all the time and it’s so good to kill two birds with one stone! Not to mention, it gives me a nice little break when it’s so hot outside. Even this morning, I stopped by our complex’s mailroom (just like 1/2 a mile away) on the way home from my run and ran back with my mail.

And I think the tan coat is cute- not grandma-ish at all! You can dress it up with scarves and fun shoes since it’s such a good neutra!

    • I feel the same way girl! We are so on the same page. Haha maybe the errands thing is a student thing too! The thing about studying is that you could potentially study every minute of the day so when I spend two hours doing errands I’m like grrr, I lost so much study time! Running definitely makes me feel better about it! πŸ™‚ it also makes me feel kinda hardcore when I am running around carrying stuff, like mail etc- it makes me think of how they might have done it in caveman times or something…. Okay maybe that’s just my weird brain. Anyway…. πŸ˜‰ that is totally what I said to bestie about the coat when she was laughing at me and calling me grandma- the neutral colour is perfect for accessorising! Have a grea weekend Liv!

Yeah on the new place!! Fun to get settled and make it your own. I have a brother who lives about an hour away, but unfortunately we aren’t close 😦 [psycho wife keeps us apart, just saying…] This weekend will be all about relaxing for me I hope. Next weekend my husband is running his 100 miler, so that will be an interesting experience!

    • So fun! It’s been a long time since I’ve been settled! Got the shower fixed today, huuuuge relief haha. Oooh family dynamics, don’t worry, I know all about that! Let’s just say half my family Iives in holland (I have dutch citizenship too yay!) and half in NZ and that isn’t always enough distance πŸ˜‰ wow 100 miles, I can’t even imagine!!!! Bet a lot of hard work went into that on both of your parts! Have a nice relaxing weekend Lisa!

    • Haha no shame right? Bestie is appalled at my ability to take a selfie in any location….. In my defence im a quality over quantity selfie taker πŸ˜‰
Absolutely, I am a huge thrift store shopper! Love it!
I am sooo relieved to get settled, and now it’s just a few months till Curtis arrives! Really awesome to have the place and start making it all pretty (cos ya know, boys care about that so much πŸ˜‰ ) hope you’re having a great weekend girl!
