The one with my three fave glute moves for runners

As we all know, glute strength is SO important for runners. Anyone who has power-walked up a hill, let alone run up one, will relate. There is a massive hill that I climb every day on the way home from work and it always destroys me…. we have the epitome of a Β love-hate relationship.

Anyhooo, these are my three FAVE moves for a bootylicious workout that helps me power up hills at the speed of light (okay not really but that’s what I tell myself πŸ™‚ ).

What I like to call a curtsey squat:

I worked these into my HIIT workout, doing 3 sets of 12 reps on each side, followed by a minute of star jumps, repeating for 20 mins. For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to go for a run after my HIIT workout… Now even while I am sitting down my booty is burning so I am thinking it was effective πŸ™‚

And a late night snack of apple and peanut butter while I gazed lovingly at my heater. Tiny, powerful, and probably my favourite thing that I own right now. My previous one died prematurely and I am still in the honeymoon phase of my new one (made even sweeter after having gone without a heater for a few days and freezing my butt off).



Do you have a fave glute move to share with me?Β 

Fave body part to work out? -Glutes and arms (specifically triceps) for me. Abs are definitely a love-hate relationship too.

Do you do a lot of walking in your everyday life? – I walk ALOT, to and from public transport every day, plus a huge amount of walking as a waitress. When I first went back to work afterΒ a two month break from waitressing I felt like I was gonna die my legs were so sore. Okay a bit dramatic but seriously, shizzle burned.

One word to sum up your weekend? – PRODUCTIVE! πŸ™‚

  2. I need to try those glute moves! They look like good ones, especially that donkey kick! I love to do abs. I do different moves everyday but I try to do abs for at least 15 minutes each day!

    I like working out my legs!! Run run run run run!! You know you probably wouldn’t need the heater if you put on some warmer clothes and stopped drinking cold smoothies!! JK JK JK πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    • Yay for run run running! I totally loled reading your comment, legit point! Not exactly my warmest outfit for sure! πŸ™‚ in my defence I do dress ridiculously warm inside, like three sweaters and a thermal, real stylish πŸ˜‰ unfortunately homes down under are not insulated and man it gets cold inside! When I can see my breath in the house I am not impressed haha

  6. I bet waitressing is a crazy tiring leg workout! My legs are exhausted even just after walking around shopping for a few hours, which I never understand since I can easily run more miles than the few I’d walk shopping haha. Thanks for the runners’ exercises!

    • That is exactly the same with waitressing! I was so amazed when I started but yeah thinking about how I feel after shopping it actually makes sense! Still weird about how we are was tired after running, what is that about? Haha it’s awesome but confusing! πŸ™‚

    Even though I can run a lot of miles, I get dead tired walking around all day. So kudos to you for all of that hard work!! I was doing a month-long squat challenge that I thought would be awesome for my glutes, but it turns out it just made me sore! I am much happier not doing them. I do need to incorporate a much less amount of glute exercises into my life though.
    Happily reunited with a heat source πŸ™‚ Love it.

    • That glute challenge of yours sounded intense! There is a lot to be said for being a little sore but not toooo sore haha. I was borderline too sore this week and it wasn’t great! Can’t wait to hear about that holiday of yours Lisa! πŸ™‚
