The one with short, sweet and satisfying yoga

Woke up 15 minutes earlier than usual and had me a sweet little yoga practice before my busiest day of the week.

It wasn’t deep. It wasn’t sweaty. I didn’t have any profound shizzle going on. I was half asleep and stiff as a board. But it felt delicious for my body, it woke me up, and it felt wonderful to do something that felt so good before I even set out to uni/work. I set off feeling centered and awesome.

Morning worker-outers, you are onto something.

Next step= being motivated to do this before every early start 😉

Thank you Ali Kamenova for making this possible.

(I realise the session is 23 minutes…. I may have sacrificed that little something called a makeup routine. I am embracing the eye bags, empowering stuff).

The rest of my day included smashing out my presentation for one of my subjects, 8 hours of class, and now I’m off to work in the evening. Productive times! I have been thinking about how wonderful it is to be excited about what one does for a living. No matter how tired I am I have no trouble being motivated to spend hours on end doing my uni assignments because I LOVE the subject matter so much, and I am so grateful I get to geek out about it every day. Waking up and feeling motivated is the best feeling ever. Coupled with morning yoga = perfection.

Hope your Friday is AWESOME and that your weekend is even sweeter than bestie’s chocolate work of genius.

When your BFF-hood is written in chocolate you know it is for realsies.

(I wasn’t lying about those eye bags 🙂 ).

Does anyone know what that plant is in the above picture? I am trying to rescue it but I don’t know if it should be inside or outside/how much water it needs and I can’t google it cos I have no idea what it is!

Are you a morning worker-outer?

What are your weekend plans?

  1. Love working out in the morning!! Lately, I’ve been embracing the styles of yoga that don’t make you sweat. Holding poses longer and just breathing. Feels awesome!!! Have a great weekend!

    • I LOVE those kind of styles of yoga too! When I fist started yoga (ages ago) I only wanted to sweat, and now I rarely break a sweat in my practice! Funny how that goes 🙂 Have a great weekend at the lake girl! 🙂

I had a great morning class today at 7! A short home practice before work is always something I aspire to,but rarely do. It does make a fab start to the day. Enjoy your weekend!

    • That’s awesome! 7am is nice because its early but not as brutal as 6am (or earlier!). I am not great at these early starts, my whole schedule really changed when I started waitressing! Short and sweet is really the way for me to go in the morning. I would love to be an early morning runner too but I always feel so icky when I first wake up! Maybe one day when I have more responsibilities I’ll be forced to 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful weekend Babycrow! 🙂

Arghhhh I really need to get back to yoga! Chocolate + BFF = best combo.
I’m definitely a morning workout-er, as in, I get up at 5 for morning runs and I love it!

    • I’m sure you’ll get back to it when the timing is right hun! Wow you are a machine!!!! How do you get motivated to get up at that time?? Let me steal your pearls of wisdom!!!!

It will happen THIS WEEK, mark my words! Hahaha, I’m afraid my wisdom isn’t all that, er, wise! I basically started getting up that early because I live in a very, very, very (very) tiny place with very ogly people who are very obvious in their observations (I mean, I’ve ran past a group of men who literally stopped what they were doing, and all conversation, and just stood and watch me go by), it’s very uncomfortable, so I wanted some time when there were less people about. Now I’ve gotten more used to the open stares, and found other times when there are other runners about and it’s more “normal”, but I’ve also found that 5 AM runs are my jam. I love going out in the absolute darkness and total quietude, I love having the roads all to myself, I love being up when everyone else is still asleep, and, most of all, I love watching the sunrise, every single stage of it, in all it’s glory. Sunrise runs are what keep me going!! It’s a combo of two types of magic, and there’s no better way to start your day. There are NO WORDS for how powerful those moments are. Sorry, I’m gushing now – but there is actually a quote in the movie Wild (from the book you’re reading, how is that going btw?), which I won’t say so you can get the full effect when you watch it, but that kind of captures it a bit!

      • Eeeee LOVE your huge beastie comment girl! Made my day!
Seriously, I feel like I NEED to get up and go for sunrise runs now! You describe it so beautifully, they sound glorious!!! Do you find its safe to run at that time? I am always super concerned with being safe on my runs!
That is a totally legit reason to want some peace while you run too, how off-putting being ogled at! I have only read one chapter of Wild because it’s my last week of the term and I am bogged down with essays (procrastinating right now… I have an all nighter ahead of me haha). But I am soooo excited to start it next week on my holiday- I plan to read it on the plane back to NZ! 🙂 I’ll def let you know how it goes! Have a beautiful day Vanessa! 🙂

Whoops, sorry I might have gotten a bit carried away 😛
I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend! I know what you mean, though – I feel very safe here, but the good part of such a small land is that it’s safer, most days I don’t even see a single soul out! When I return to Lisbon I’m not sure how safe I will feel, but I used to go fairly early there too and always felt alright! How safe do you feel in general in your neighborhood? You can always check what time the sunrise is going to be, it’s not usually quite that early!
I hope you love the book and love your time back home even more! Good luck with all the essays, I’m cheering for you!!
