Remember how ages ago I was all like oooh I wanna do F45 training to help with my strength goals? And then that didn’t happen because the free trial had finished and I am on a student budget? Good times, good times. Anyway, I saw an amazing Groupon deal for a month of unlimited training and decided to treat myself for my birthday.
For realsies, I thought I was gonna die. The first session I did was 45mins of HIIT using body weight and kettle balls and stuff and man did it BURN.
Some exercises we did included weighted push ups, chin ups, kettle ball squats, crunches and weighted lunges, but honestly I was in I’m-about-to-pass-out mode for 90% of it so I may have blocked out a few.
The second session I did was called “Run Club” so the delusional part of my brain thought it would be a nice fun run type thing around the city. Ummm no, that is not how F45 rolls.
We did an hour (usually F45 is 45 mins but the run club is longer) which consisted of us running to Sydney university (which is beautiful btw) and then did three sets of the following:
-10 minutes of “suicides” – sprint the the first post, jog back, then to the second post, jog back, and so on for five posts and 10 minutes. Oh yeah, and it was done up a massive hill.
-The next set was 8 one minute laps of the park. This was pretty fast and I thought about quitting but I didn’t 🙂
-The final set was done with a partner: while she ran up the massive hill I did stair sprints interspersed by squats. 10 mins of that bad boy too.
One thing I loved about this workout- you could totally do it by yourself if you were keensies. The final set would be easy to time (like one minute alternating each exercise or something).
I staggered home and the fact that I had trouble lifting my arms to wash my hair from the push ups the day before makes me weirdly happy because how amazing is the post-workout I’m so sore and tired feeling? Weird but legit.
This is totally gonna be me tomorrow, in the best way:
Some other faves from my week:
This photo collage bestie made for my birthday
Kiwi and koala lollies
Dessert we had last week at the restaurant where I work
This book- obsessed. Excuse me for geeking out for a second but every time I read something by Yalom I get even more obsessed with the therapeutic process.
And an end of week lunch date with bestie. Summer is here!!!
What are your Friday favourites?
Craziest workout you have ever done? – I think F45 is it for me! Ouchie!!
Most sore you have ever been? I climbed Mt. Kinabalu in Malaysia and could not move for a week after. Vertical stairs for 8 hours straight will do that to ya.
