The one with yoga for a rainy day

When it is raining all I want to do is drink a nice cup of tea and swaddle myself in a blanket and read a book, who’s with me?

Ya. ALL OF YOU. Don’t deny it 😉

First things first though, I love me a little yin yoga rainy meditation type thing (it’s normal I promise).

It goes like this.

Wear the comfiest clothing in the world (I highly recommend pyjamas)

Choose three of my fave relaxing yoga poses

Lie in each for as long as I want and listen to the sound of the rain.

…GENIUS (lol).

The plinkety plunkety of the rain combined with the yin poses and the meditation = (scientifically speaking) the body and mind become more relaxed than a noodle cooked well beyond al dente.

Because Australia apparently turns into a tropical monsoon party in the springtime, and hits 30 degrees while there are massive thunderstorms outside, there is more than ample opportunity for me to practice this.

Also, please note that the above three poses are AMAZING for runners and target the hips and IT bands. Usually when I start out doing them I feel uncomfortable but gradually sink into them as I start to relax.

Now, about that cup of tea+book+swaddling situation….

  1. Ahhhh you know I love yin! My favorite rainy day activity would be the couch, pajamas, a cozy blanket and a cup of tea. However, it’s rainy here today and I am not feeling 100% and I am at work, so anything but here would be heaven!

    Today we had bank holiday here in Prague. AND it was raining!
    My first wish was to stay in bed BUT then we managed to get out of bed (the boyfriend made me pancakes which helped) and we went for a 15k hike in the woods. It was fab!!

  3. I like hanging out with my kids and playing board games when we’re stuck inside. And if I can talk the kids into playing Just Dance on the Wii, even better! I don’t excel at the games that require skills with the game controllers, so if I can dance and score points, that’s my thing!
    Those are great poses for stretching out. I have been in need of those lately (sadly).
