The one with Christmas yoga

How is everyone’s Christmas spirit going?

I’ll be honest- I have been pretty busy running around like a headless chicken and have been like HOW is it already Christmas Day!?!?!  YIKES.

Luckily I am a weirdly organised overplanner and tend to sort out my Christmas presents throughout the year (whenever I see something I think friends/family will like) and so I didn’t have a present rush. I did however have an “I-should-probably-buy-something-yummy-rather-than-my-usual-spinach-smoothie-ingredients” rush because I am pretty sure Curtis doesn’t want to eat a green smoothie for Christmas lunch (although it is colour appropriate am I right?!).

We don’t have an oven (or a stovetop, good times) so I utilised my best friend the slow cooker to make a nice chicken, along with some fancy bread and salad and a lot of yummy dessert stuff. This is my and Curtis’ first Christmas living together which is pretty exciting  stuff 🙂

This is also Curtis’ first non-snowy 30ish degrees celsius Christmas, and with us both being away from our families a few things were extra important for making things feel Christmassey. Christmas carols, festive food, presents, and egg nog, to be exact.

As were a few Christmassey (in my mind) yoga poses that helped get me in the festive spirit:

(When I was looking for pics of star pose I found this- hope you’re ready for our next beach activity Curtis honey 😉 )

Christmas is always a good time to reflect on being more giving/kind/Christmas-spirit-ey and yoga is the perfect opportunity for me to do this.

Enjoy the rest of your Christmas everyone!

What do you cook for Christmas?? At home in NZ we usually have chicken or turkey and lots of nice summer salads and pavlova (a traditional NZ dessert… Australians will say its an Aussie thing but they are lying because they have to try and take what they can get due to us beating them in the rugby all the time). Last year Curtis and I tried to make pavlova for Christmas- epic fail. It is super tricky to make but we might try again this year when we are in NZ for a few weeks 🙂

Do you buy your Christmas presents all in one go or one by one?

  1. I would totally forget where the present was hidden in my house, so I don’t buy anything ahead for Christmas! We are having a green Christmas here too – cold, but not cold enough to snow, so we are having rain 😦 Oh well. You made a really nice meal! Hope you had a great holiday with Curtis!

  2. We kicked off our Christmas festivities super late in the day (around 11 am) so I actually did have time to go on a run beforehand which was great! It felt strange running early on Christmas morning before opening presents but I always love starting off the day with a good run 🙂 Love the idea of doing Christmas yoga, too. Your Christmas feast looks DELISH- nice work, Jessica 🙂
