The one with that craving a beastie run feeling

Seriously guys. I am craving a beastie long run right now the same way I crave lollies when I’ve gone a day without them in my life (which is a very sad day).

(Giant delicious crocodile lolly that floated my boat big time in NZ).

I not only LOVE the feeling of craving a nice beastie sweatylicious run, I actually cultivate it.

Because isn’t being excited for your workout one of the best feelings ever?

Cultivating running cravings goes like this:

1) Focus on strength training/cross training/yoga/pretty much any other exercise for a few days. Absence makes the heart grow fonder am I right?

(Throwback pic showcasing my ridiculous tennis skills a few years ago… my hair halo looks great I know).

2) Read my fave running blogs (TechChick, Healthy Liv, Inverted Sneakers, Runsaltrun, I am looking at you inspiring people).

3) Plan a magical new/exciting/favourite route. This never fails to get me excited about running.

And if ALL OF THAT fails… I get my workout clothes on, get my butt out there and just do it! The more I run, the more I LOVE to run!

How do you induce running cravings?

Do you play any sports?/Which sports did you play in highschool? I played tennis, netball (a NZ/Australia sport similar to basketball), sailing for a little while, and did a million years of ballet and jazz ballet and contemporary. Now I just play tennis sporadically when I’m on holiday and am mainly obsessed with running and yoga and now BBG (more to come on that 😉 ).

  1. The fastest way to get a feeling to want to run… get injured! Ok, not the best way, but it always makes me want to run even more!! Thanks for the shout out. Life has been all about running for me these days. Non stop training machine!!

    • HAHAHA this cracked me up- SO TRUE! I totally forgot that one but you’re right that pretty much does it every time 🙂 You are SUCH a machine! When you wrote about your long run that was “only” 12 miles I was like she is crushing this! 🙂
