The one with weekend traditions

After a perfect weekend in the Blue Mountains I am going to share our weekend traditions with you because obviously this is important stuff.

-My ULTIMATE fave weekend tradition = we like to nail a nice mix of spending one weekend day doing super relaxing things like watching movies/going out for a walk and coffee/catching up on our week (this is quite the process when we haven’t seen each other for a few days) and then spending the second day doing an adventure 😍 This works really well for us because we are usually super tired on the first day off from work but the second day we are ready to get out and party –> Eg. Our trip to the Blue Mountains! SO BEAUTIFUL. Seriously, if you come to Sydney GO THERE, it’s beyond majestic.

-Another fave tradition- Curtis and I take turns making a giant beastie pot of coffee to share in the morning. This is just a small thing but the smell of the delicious fresh coffee and the fact that we never do it during the week because of our very different work/breakfast hours makes it pretty special and brings on those “weekendy” feels.

-I always do yoga on the weekend. Either I have more time for it if I work less, or I particularly need it if I am working a lot, regardless, at least one weekend yoga practice always goes down.

-Saturday is usually a running day and Sunday is usually a rest day.

(Pic from my perfect Autumn run today, I am ridiculously spoilt by all of Sydney’s glorious parks)

-We eat something yummy. We make sure to have some sort of date on the weekends, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner (or dessert 😉 ) depending on my work schedule, and it always involves something yummy that we don’t usually eat during the week.

-Finally, a skype/phone call with my and Curtis’ respective parentals tops off the weekend perfectly, and I always Skype my sis on Sunday mornings (aside from those times I’ve slept through the old alarm by accident…sorry Sis!!! 🙂 ). With family in NZ and Curtis’ fam in Canada it’s amazing vital to be able to keep in contact so easily.

What are some of your weekend traditions?

Do you have a similar work schedule to your significant other? – Curtis and I work completely different schedules (me working really late nights and him very early mornings) and sometimes we don’t see each other awake for three days 😫 it definitely makes the weekends feel more precious though ha.

  3. Your trip to the mountains looks awesome. And that park you ran in? Woah! So beautiful!
I’m spoiled to have my husband at home all the time now that he’s retired, which is incredibly nice since he’s in charge of driving kids around and going grocery shopping now! But when we were working, it was the same shifts. I get to see him a lot 🙂
