The one with a spur of the moment trip to Wollongong

Super random as all the best roadtrips are.

-The highlight of the trip:

RIGHT? Isn’t that one of the most glorious things you’ve seen in your life?? Banana chocolate crazyshake (which is a real thing) with banana lollies and a sprinkle covered donut. Pretty sure I mostly wanted it for the banana lollies and sprinkles but it was AMAZING.

-We had a beautiful train ride along the NSW coastline- public transport in Sydney is the cheapest best thing ever, the whole return trip which was about 6hrs was about $10 at the most – SO GOOD! And $5 for me as a student, makes me feel slightly less horrified about the amount of money my undergrad and postgrad costs 😉 and sitting in airconditioned bliss relaxing and watching the coastline = pretty darn nice.

-A minor torrential drenching where I got to put up my super cool hood… we got off the train in the middle of nowhere and wandered around in the pouring rain in North Wollongong trying to understand what there is to do there…the answer is NOTHING so we got back on the train and went to find our hostel… #traveller fails

-The most spectacular rockpool I’ve ever seen/floated in made up for it

-Lots of meaningful seaward gazing

-Stormy beaches (the weather was all over the place can you tell?)image

-Deep talks, exploring, (and a little bit of heatstroke) with my main man

-And finally, ALL THE LOLLIES.

Curtis was disturbed at how quickly I ate these but I told him if he hasn’t learnt at this point not to leave me unsupervised with a bag of lollies then he only has himself to blame.

Where was your last road trip?

Ever taken a train somewhere far away? Curtis hadn’t really been on trains before this so he loved it 🙂

Do you prefer swimming at a calm beach, surf beach, lake, rockpool or river? (Or swimming pool?! I feel like we are all gonna say no to that one because of hair goals 😉 ) – I like surf beaches because that’s what I grew up with and jumping around in the waves keeps me warm. Curtis likes calm beaches and lakes for the floating. I also love river swimming as long as its a safe spot… not super keen to get sucked down a waterfall at this point in my life.

crazy weather you’re having! Love the cranky face under your hood. I do that too — and hubby often captures the moment on camera for reasons I can’t imagine!

  2. The lollies!! Bringing back aaall the Dingle Dell Dairy memories ❤
